Is it normal for the compiler to show a broken arrow? I just installed the Home use to test it out and when I launch the compiler from the Tools menu, it launches the compiler GUI, but it shows a broken arrow. Thoughts?

What do you see as the reason for the broken arrow when you click on it? Please attach an image. Normally if this happens it is because you have exceeded the 7 day free trial limitation. You can confirm that by going to help>activate addons in LabVIEW to see if the license shows as expired.

What version of LabVIEW are you using the Compiler with? As the documentation states, it needs to be 2014 and above.
Cheers

Yes, you need to install with VI Package Manager for sure. Can you tell us how you were installing it without VIPM?

ha! I re-read what I posted. I didn't mean to imply I installed it without Package manager, i have only used the package manger; and when i say happily installed, I mean it installed with no errors; not that it installed and works. I am still in the situation where it has a broken arrow. Sorry for the confusion.

Oh, ok. Can you please post an image of the error dialog that comes up when you click the broken error?

Once again, click the broken arrow and send a screenshot of the dialog that comes up. Not the add-ons activation dialog.

Yes, this is very strange. We have not seen this before. Can you try to force a recompile?
Force a recompile of the VI (Press Ctrl+Shift and left-click the Run arrow from LabVIEW). This often solves the problem.
There is a thread here that describes this condition:
Also, check "Show Warnings" and if anything is listed there, post it back.
You can also try a mass compile of the eintire directory located "C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2014\vi.lib\Aledyne-TSXperts\Arduino Compatible Compiler for LabVIEW"

hmmm... i didn't see any errors list, but did a mass compile. Wow! Let me know if you see something in there...
lots of Bad SubVI:
### Bad subVI: "Arduino Compatible Compiler for LabVIEW.lvlib:Find And Replace Callbacks.vi" Path="C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2014\vi.lib\Aledyne-TSXperts\Arduino Compatible Compiler for LabVIEW\Code Generator\Find and Filter\Find And Replace Callbacks.vi"

Yes that is very strange. Seems they are all broken. Can you try opening one of these subVIs and hit the broken arrow to see if it gives any errors or warnings?
Also, what happened when you did a recompile (Ctrl+Shift+Run) of the main Compiler VI (not a mass compile).
Do you have a VM or another machine you can try it on? We have many users and this is the first reported incident of this so it might be something with your machine. Hopefully we can get to the bottom of it.

hmmm...i have been having issues with my machine lately (working on escalation with NI right now).
I had installed LabVIEW on another machine and installed the Arduino COmpiler and all is well on that machine and it doesn't have a broken arrow.
It appears that my main machine is having issues.
I won't worry about my main machine for now...this can be closed. Thank you for the follow up.
